Day 4 and 5: Exploring Central Tokyo
Our next move: Monday Apart Premium Asakusa, where a Premium Sauna Suite with balcony (utilizing Worldmark points, seven people!) became home base. A day spent scouring Asakusa and Akihabara—Sanrio heaven, endless Don Quijote, custom chopsticks from Mikura Kappabashi. Anime shops, tech treasures, and a quiet riverside kaiseki dinner at the Asahi Group Headquarters capped off the Tokyo chapter.
The following day was packed with many adventures. The Pokémon Cafe in Nihonbashi was a kiddo dream come true. Harajuku’s Takeshita Street, rooftop gardens, Shibuya’s famous crossing, and a treasure hunt at Mega Don Quijote kept everyone moving. Dinner at Kumachan Onsen Restaurant wrapped up the day in classic family style. You become a bear (with bear ears provided by the establishment) and choose a hot pot soup base and meat. The soup comes in the form of a gelatin bear that melts as you heat it up. Their desserts are even shaped like a bear. My daughter, who loves bears, especially polar bears, said this was her favorite dinner.
Until Next Time,
