Day 2: Conquering Tokyo DisneySea

Tokyo DisneySea was up first. Parental strategizing, racing to secure DPAs (the paid fast pass) on the app, and rides like Frozen Journey (worth every point spent) were some of the highlights for this day. DisneyDays mean the family that waits together snacks together, and monorail tickets become not just a way to get around but keepsake tokens long after the crowds fade. And we mustn’t forget the multiple popcorn stands with their variety of flavors. We loved the shrimp flavored popcorn, but would steer clear of the roast beef flavor the next time around. The weather was raining at times, which made our umbrellas come in handy. And humid all the time. We kept up with our hydration with our Pocari Sweat, Aquarius and Green Dakara electrolyte drinks.

However, one thing was strikingly clear: the lines were so much shorter at Toky Disney than the Disney parks in the United States. And the prices for tickets were cheaper, as well. My 10 year old daughter cost about $35 USD and the adults cost around $80 USD per ticket!!! Each DPA was 2,000 yen or less (which is roughly $13 or less).

Once they started to let guests inside, my son and I immediately secured a DPA to one of Toky DisneySea’s popular rides: Anna and Elsa's Frozen Journey. Then we headed toward that area (straight and then all the way to the top right). We went on Peter Pan's Never Land Adventure , which was amazing, and then onto Rapunzel's Lantern Festival, which was short but good. We then waited for the Frozen ride but it broke down. Luckily, they gave us a fast pass for free that allowed us to return later. When we did, we were able to “skip the line” and get on the ride pretty quickly. The animatronics and use of screens was superb, far superior to the ride at Disney World.

We spent the rest of the day exploring the different part of the park and eating box and boxes of popcorn. The girls loved the Aquatopia ride, in which they got soaked and begged grandma to go on it over and over again. We ended the night watching "Believe! Sea of Dreams," a show on the Mediterranean Harbor that features barges, fireworks, projections, lasers, and fountains. While not as spectacular as World of Color at California Adventures, it was in par with the fireworks show at Epcot “Lumnious: They Symphony of Us.” To note: this show is in Japanese so things may be difficult to understand if you do not have some understanding of this language. After the show, we headed back onto the monorail back to our hotel and got some much needed rest.

Until Next Time,

Faith
